Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to work closely with the Controller in managing the financial operations of our organization. This role requires a strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on ensuring accurate financial and analytical reporting. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of GAAP, and various accounting software platforms. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to strategic financial planning and growth on a personal and company-wide level.

Duties

  • Assist and/or manage all aspects of corporate accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, adhering to GAAP standards.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify data integrity across all accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements for governmental agencies as applicable.
  • Participate in budget development, financial forecasts, and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, or similar platforms for accurate data entry and financial management.
  • Assist with employee benefit planning and administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification a plus.
  • Minimum five years of experience in corporate accounting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP compliance with demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment with multiple revenue streams and multi-state customers.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or equivalent financial management tools including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, account reconciliation (including balance sheet reconciliation), budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
  • Effective communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with internal teams and external accountants.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles including debits & credits; familiarity with technical accounting concepts is essential.

This role is integral to maintaining the organization’s financial health through meticulous management of all accounting functions while supporting strategic growth initiatives through sound financial analysis and reporting.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
