Assistant Controller restaurant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our restaurant finance team. Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the full spectrum of accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory reporting standards such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and specific governmental or non-profit accounting requirements.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and account reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
• Oversee cash management activities, including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and banking transactions.
• Prepare detailed financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and variance analyses to support management decision-making.
• Conduct internal controls testing and support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms to ensure efficient financial management and reporting.
• Lead efforts in budgeting, financial forecasting, and technical accounting projects to improve financial processes and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data entry, timely closing of books, and adherence to internal policies and Inventory controls

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting within the restaurant industry or hospitality sector is highly preferred. Knowledge of Toast POS system is required.
• Strong knowledge of SOX compliance, IFRS standards, GAAP principles, and governmental/non-profit accounting practices.
• Demonstrated expertise in balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger management.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent financial management tools.
• Solid understanding of cash management strategies, payroll processing, regulatory reporting requirements, and technical accounting concepts.
• Ability to perform financial analysis and prepare comprehensive financial reports with clarity and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments and external auditors.
