Assistant Daycare Teacher

Duties

  • Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans that promote early childhood education and developmental milestones
  • Support children with activities that encourage social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth
  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, naps, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and well-being
  • Help maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that adheres to health and safety standards
  • Engage with children using age-appropriate teaching methods, including storytelling, arts and crafts, and educational games
  • Support behavioral management strategies to promote positive interactions among children
  • Collaborate with team members to monitor individual needs, especially for children requiring special education or additional support due to disabilities or developmental delays

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or similar settings is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required or willing to obtain upon hiring
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in special education settings is a plus
  • Strong classroom management skills coupled with patience and empathy for young learners
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative and responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills to engage positively with children, parents, and colleagues
