DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Service
  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director when necessary.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one-on-one interaction.
Deli Operations
  • Possess knowledge of duties performed by all department employees; assist with preparation, cooking, and serving of food items.
  • Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.
  • Prepare sandwiches, salads, pizzas, hot and cold foods, and food/party trays according to company standards.
  • Operate equipment such as kitchen utensils, fryers, ovens (conventional, microwave, pizza), slicers, grills, food processors, wrappers, scales, printers, and pallet jacks.
  • Maintain deli case cleanliness, visual appeal, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure proper cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of deli area and equipment; maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure temperatures are maintained during all phases of preparation, display, and storage.
  • May be responsible for operation and maintenance of salad bar, wing bar, and burger bar (where applicable).
Team Support
  • Assist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.
  • Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Assist with planning daily operations and monitor production processes for compliance and profitability.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement.
Inventory & Compliance
  • Control inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness per division directives.
  • Stock and rotate products; maintain and organize cooler.
  • Conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Enforce proper code dating for all products.
  • Build displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled products.
Receiving & Administrative
  • Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify orders using invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, stock and rotate product.
  • Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Complete and monitor daily log sheets, Production Chart, Sales and Labor reports, and other required documentation.
Compliance
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines (Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook).
  • Follow and maintain department standards.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.

Pay Transparency:



Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.


  • For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
