The Office of Undergraduate Programs in The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for an Assistant Director, Academy for Excellence in Engineering (AE3) position. This position is responsible for: (a) designing and coordinating programs that support the development of faculty teaching skills and (b) promoting faculty engagement in and recognition for engineering education efforts within The Grainger College of Engineering, the campus, and beyond.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Collins Scholar program for new faculty, including the development of classroom observation programs and the training of faculty peer observers and Student Consultants on Teaching (SCOTs).
o Collaboratively develop, implement, and evaluate the Scholarship and Teaching for Engineering Postdocs (STEP) program for postdoctoral research associates to support their research, teaching, and employability; this includes the evaluation of participants’ assessments related to teaching.
o Develop and facilitate routine sustained faculty development opportunities, including but not limited to book circles, themed professional learning communities, extended seminar series, and course re- design/revision working groups.
o Liaise with Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) staff to promote Grainger faculty engagement in campus level programming, both as presenters and participants; serve on CITL working groups, as requested.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a full-time Civil Service Instructional Development Specialist-3289 position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
