Full-Time | Monday–Friday
$20-$22 per hour - plus bonuses
Stepping Stone Children’s Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Assistant Director to help lead the daily operations of our licensed childcare center.
This leadership role supports classroom excellence, staff development, family communication, and Maryland licensing compliance while helping ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children and staff.
The ideal candidate has prior experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting and is ready to grow into a key leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily childcare center operations
- Maintain staffing ratios and classroom coverage
- Support teacher coaching, accountability, and performance
- Assist with staff onboarding and training
- Step into classrooms as needed for support and breaks
- Ensure compliance with Maryland State Department of Education and Office of Child Care regulations
- Support incident reporting and documentation
- Communicate professionally with families regarding classroom and center matters
- Help strengthen classroom routines, structure, and supervision
- Assist with tours, enrollment support, and family retention
- Support center culture and leadership initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare center
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of childcare licensing requirements
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must pass all required background checks and state requirements
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Experience with Brightwheel is a plus
