  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Nurse in good standing issued by the state of Texas or by Nurse Licensure Compact Administration.
  • 2 or more years of experience in clinical services management

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing infection control or workplace safety
  • 5 or more years of experience in clinical services management
  • ACLS certification
  • Experience with eClinical Works
  • Experience managing occupational health for health care workers
  • Certification or training in occupational health for health care workers
  • Experience managing long-term reversible contraception, including IUD and Nexplanon insertions

Job Description
Texas State University Health Services (UHS) is seeking an Assistant Director of Clinical Services. The Assistant Director of Clinical Services provides leadership and operational oversight for medical providers, nursing services, laboratory, and radiology operations within University Health Services (UHS). This role supports high-quality clinical care, ensures regulatory compliance, and contributes to organizational strategic goals.

Job Duties
The Assistant Director of Clinical Services is responsible for coordinating the medical provider, nursing and laboratory/radiology operations within UHS.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Operations & Staff Leadership:
  • Oversee daily operations for provider, nursing, laboratory, and radiology teams.
  • Provide supervisory support, guidance, and performance management for clinical staff.
  • Oversee provider and nursing staffing schedules to ensure consistent coverage and service quality.


Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation:
  • Develop, implement, and update departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with preparation, documentation, and ongoing requirements for AAAHC accreditation.

Safety, Infection Control & Emergency Preparedness:
  • Administer Infection Control and Workplace Safety programs.
  • Develop and deliver required staff education, including Infection Control, Hazard Communication, and Blood‑Borne Pathogen training.
  • Plan and coordinate emergency response drills (fire, disaster, medical code, mental health).

Program & Resource Oversight:
  • Oversee the UHS naloxone distribution program.
  • Manage clinical supplies, pharmaceutical inventory, and maintenance of medical equipment.

Patient Care & Special Projects:
  • Provide direct patient care as needed for special initiatives or during staffing shortages.
  • Support the Director with strategic planning and departmental projects.

Committee Participation:
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Team, Team Lead Group, Quality Improvement Team, and Electronic Medical Record Team to support organizational initiatives and continuous quality improvement. Serve as chair of Workplace Safety Team. Serve on Division’s Risk Management and/or other teams as assigned.
