To assist the Director of Engineering in planning, directing, and coordinating all engineering and maintenance operations in the hotel. Ensuring all facilities, systems, and equipment are properly maintained to high standards of safety, efficiency, performance, and guest satisfaction, while also optimizing cost, energy usage, and sustainability.
Key ResponsibilitiesAreaDutiesOperational Leadership & Maintenance Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of all building systems (MEP – Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), HVAC, elevators, fire safety, water systems, etc.
- Supervise maintenance staff and contractors; ensure work is done to standards and on schedule.
- Perform regular inspections of all public areas, back-of-house areas, guestrooms, to ensure operational readiness and aesthetics.Project Management & Upgrades Assist in planning and implementing renovation or upgrade projects (rooms, public areas, technical systems).
- Coordinate with design, procurement, contractors, and relevant departments.
- Ensure projects are on time, within budget, and comply with hotel standards and regulations.Budgeting & Cost Control
Support preparation of the engineering department’s annual and capital budgets. Supervise engineering teams: technicians, engineers, maintenance, etc. Assist in development and implementation of energy management and conservation programs.4‑5 years in a senior/managerial role.
- Monitor all engineering expenses — staffing, supplies, spare parts, contractor services, utilities.
- Identify cost-saving and energy-efficiency opportunities.Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all local laws, codes, health, safety, fire, environmental regulations.
- Maintain documentation and records of inspections, permits, maintenance logs.
- Lead or assist in emergency preparedness plans (e.g. fire, flood, power failure).
- Implement and monitor safety protocols for staff, contractors, guests.Team Management & Development
- Provide training, guidance, appraisals, and mentoring to ensure high performance.
- Promote a culture of reliability, accountability, and continuous improvement.Guest Relations & Cross‑Department Liaison Respond to guest complaints or requests related to engineering/facilities.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, F&B, Front Office, and other departments to ensure minimal disruptions and good guest experience.
- Liaise with external vendors, contractors, utility providers.Energy, Sustainability & Innovation
- Explore sustainable and eco‑friendly systems, materials, and practices.
- Monitor usage (electricity, water, fuel, etc.) and report on performance metrics.Qualifications & ExperienceRequiredPreferred Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 20 years in engineering/facilities maintenance in a large hospitality environment (5‑star hotel or equivalent), with at least
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lifts/escalators).
- Good project management skills.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision‑making skills. Master’s degree or additional certification (e.g. Facilities Management, Energy Management).
- Experience with green building certifications or sustainability programs.
- Experience with large scale retrofit/renovation work.
- Familiar with Dubai‑specific regulatory codes and practices.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).Key Competencies
