Assistant Director of Facilities

We’re hiring an Assistant Director of Facilities to join the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY!

This is a unique leadership opportunity within one of the world’s premier laser fusion research facilities. The Assistant Director of Facilities will oversee operations, infrastructure, capital projects, and facility teams supporting a 300,000+ square foot advanced research complex operating 24/7/365.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading facilities operations for critical mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and infrastructure systems

• Managing capital improvement and infrastructure modernization projects

• Overseeing facilities personnel, contractors, vendors, and preventive maintenance programs

• Supporting environmental controls required for precision laser research operations

• Managing budgets, compliance initiatives, fire safety, and regulatory coordination

• Serving as a strategic facilities partner across technical and research divisions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred

• 7+ years of facilities, infrastructure, or operations management experience

• Experience with complex building systems, project management, and contractor oversight

• AutoCAD experience preferred

• Experience supporting technical, industrial, laboratory, research, or mission-critical environments strongly preferred

💲 $96,860–$145,290 annually
