ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Responsible for the application of proper accounting principles and financial controls ensuring all transactions on behalf of the district are conducted legally and ethically and are in accordance with State, Federal, and County accounting principles.
- Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets.
- Recruits accounting and financial staff and assists with conducting performance
- Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff. Presents new/updated information at the quarterly Office Manager meetings.
- Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions within USFR guidelines.
- Oversees preparation of school/department budget reports, financial forecasts for cash-controlled accounts, and annual budgets.
- Assists in the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
- Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
- Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
- Completes quarterly and annual PCG Medicaid reports.
- Provides financial support with an emphasis on E-Rate, School Facilities Division, and SBITAs.
- Remains current and ensures compliance with all changes in State, Federal or County laws, regulations, accounting practices and requirements that impact the district.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited college or university required.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a School District or public sector entity, of which one year was in a supervisory capacity.
- Must possess working knowledge of principles, practices and methods of accounting and auditing; financial administration including budgeting and reports, operations procedures and data processing; application of data processing in the maintenance of accounting records and financial administration; budget preparation program analyses and revenue forecasting.
- No convictions for felonies or crimes against children.
Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
