JOB PURPOSE:

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in managing all financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial performance. This role assists with financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, accounting operations, and departmental leadership while partnering with hotel leaders to support profitable decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with preparing monthly financial statements, forecasts, profit-and-loss reports, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Analyze financial data, identify variances, and provide insights to support hotel leadership in managing departmental performance.

  • Support year-end and month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and ledgers.

  • Assist with creating financial presentations, performance summaries, and business reviews.

  • Support the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, payroll processes, and general ledger accuracy.

  • Review daily revenue reports, ensuring proper posting, reconciliation, and error correction.

  • Ensure proper documentation and coding of all financial transactions in compliance with policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist in supervising day-to-day execution of accounting tasks and deadlines.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit standards, and financial policies to protect hotel assets.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing financial records and documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with GAAP standards and company accounting procedures.
  • Oversee cash handling controls and compliance with purchasing and inventory guidelines.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process, gathering financial data, supporting projections, and reviewing historical trends.
  • Support rolling forecasts and departmental budget reviews with hotel managers.
  • Provide financial analysis to support capital planning and investment decisions.
  • Assist in supervising and mentoring accounting team members, supporting training, performance development, and workload management.
  • Provide financial guidance to department leaders to ensure understanding of budgets, cost controls, and financial goals.
  • Partner with operational managers to improve financial performance and support cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support communication between the Finance department, Corporate Accounting, and other hotel departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of hotel financial operations.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of accounting or finance experience preferred.
  • Hospitality finance experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with hotel financial systems or ERP platforms preferred.
