The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communication develops and implements marketing and communication strategies that enhance the academic reputation of the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (FCN) and drive awareness of the College’s academic programs, with an emphasis on graduate programs.
The Assistant Director reports to and works closely with the Director of Communication and Marketing to execute the marketing strategy for the College’s graduate programs in alignment with Villanova’s brand. In this role, the Assistant Director has a comprehensive understanding of multi-channel marketing and integrated communications strategies/campaigns to optimize reach, generate engagement and support enrollment goals. The Assistant Director conceptualizes, coordinates, and executes plans that include effective marketing tools as well as related assets such as video, social media, PowerPoint presentations, and collateral materials.

The Assistant Director manages the College’s website, social media accounts, and event communications. The Assistant Director works with colleagues in University Communication and Marketing (UCM) to ensure that FCN materials are in alignment with Villanova’s overall branding and marketing guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with the Director of Communication and Marketing, develops and implements marketing and advertising strategies to generate awareness and support enrollment goals for graduate programs in the College of Nursing, in alignment with Villanova’s overall brand. Serves as the College’s main point of contact with the University’s designated media agency and collaborates with said agency to implement program-specific marketing campaigns. Responsible for copywriting and working with UCM designers to develop creative campaign assets. Develops drip marketing campaigns to cultivate program leads. Responsible for monitoring, measuring, and analyzing advertising initiatives and providing reports to various constituencies. Responsible for successful implementation, coordination and completion of multiple time-sensitive deadlines and goals.


  • Under the guidance of the Director of Communication and Marketing and in collaboration with UCM, writes and executes content to ensure that the College of Nursing’s key messages are effectively communicated to appropriate audiences on multiple platforms and through a variety of channels that include print, web, and social. Develops College resources including social media assets, presentations and other collateral materials, ensuring consistency in branding. Manages the FCN website, updating and creating new pages. Manages the College’s social media accounts, developing and implementing tactics including video and other digital content. Responsible for promotion of College events.

  • Serves as an integral partner to FCN recruitment and enrollment team, creating communication plans and materials to support recruitment and enrollment events and initiatives.

  • Performs other duties and assists with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, media, journalism, English, public relations or related discipline is required.
Work Experience:
  • Individual must have a minimum of 3 years of marketing and communications experience in a professional environment.
Work Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and build relationships across the University.
  • Individual must be poised, convey a highly professional demeanor and be able to work independently.
Specific Job Knowledge:
  • Google Analytics.
  • Current with social media marketing trends.
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of AEM/Adobe Experience Manager.
Equipment Knowledge:
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office 360 suite, Zoom or other video conferencing platforms.
  • Video skills/editing a plus.
Other:
  • Must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the College and the advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree a plus.
  • Digital marketing experience is preferred.
  • Experience preferred within higher education.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
  • Individual may need to work evenings, weekends and travel in the region as demands of the job dictate.

Salary Posting Information:
This position falls within salaried grade 13 and the range for this position is $65,000-70,000. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
