Assistant Director, Residence Life
Essential Duties & Responsibilities-
Supervises professional and administrative staff on the leadership and office support teams. Provides comprehensive training, ongoing staff development and evaluation of staff

Manages department budgets and strategic financial planning. Ensures department staff are trained and supported in the execution of standard budgetary protocols, and cultivates a culture of stewardship for university resources

Facilitates the development, planning, marketing, and execution of programmatic initiatives which incorporate a focus on student wellness, engagement and academic success

Coordinates campus and community resources that enhance students' academic and co-curricular experience

Collaborates with various campus departments to identify and reach out to students who are suffering from academic, emotional, and mental health related issues

Develops and advances partnerships and collaborative relationships within Student Affairs, and with key university stakeholders to develop long-range strategic planning, make data-driven and resource sensitive decisions, and enhance the overall experience of on-campus living

Role-Specific Highlights:
In this role, you will contribute directly to the day-to-day leadership of a residential program area while helping to advance broader departmental initiatives. Depending on area assignment, your work may include:
- Supervising and mentoring professional live-in or live-off professional staff.

Supporting residential curriculum implementation, community standards processes, or housing operations.

Collaborating regularly with campus partners such as Facilities, Public Safety, Dining, and Student Conduct.

Using systems such as Workday, StarRez, and Maxient to manage staffing, reporting, and operational needs.

Participating in an on-call rotation and responding to time-sensitive student and facilities concerns as needed.
Work Environment and Culture:
This is a highly collaborative role that balances planned project work with responsive, student-facing responsibilities. Days often involve a mix of meetings, staff support, problem-solving, and independent work. Flexibility, sound judgment, and a commitment to inclusive practice are essential to success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in residential education, housing operations, or student development within a higher education setting.

Demonstrated ability to supervise professional staff and support their growth through coaching and feedback.

Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Remote Work Eligibility:
This position is primarily campus-based due to the nature of residential operations and student support. Some limited flexibility may be available depending on departmental needs and time of year, but regular on-campus presence is expected.
