The Division of Public Relations and Marketing Communications (PRMC) at Georgia State University is hiring an Assistant Director of Social Media at its downtown Atlanta location. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Communications, the selected candidate will work with the leadership team in PRMC and university partners to manage and monitor the social media platforms for Georgia State University. The selected candidate will use social media to engage with prospective and current students, and the Georgia State community.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position is responsible for evaluating effectiveness of content posting on social media platforms, creating social media campaigns, developing relationships using social media, and running, managing, tracking and maintaining administrative oversight of social media accounts.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Works with leadership team to plan and create comprehensive social media strategies that support the university and drive increased interest in Georgia State.

  • Leads and coordinates the distribution of content for a variety of audiences to be used across multiple social media channels and campaigns.

  • Ensures consistency and quality control of content with university branding, visual identity and editorial style.

  • Has administrative oversight of university social media accounts. Works closely with various departments across the university to coordinate social media efforts and amplify messaging.

  • Manages Hootsuite, the enterprise-level social media marketing and management tool. Trains new users and advises on best practices and product updates.

  • Implements marketing strategies and tactics and manages paid social media campaigns.

  • Monitors social media channels, responds to inquiries, comments and messages in a timely manner, and fosters positive interactions. Advises leadership of trends and issues and creates reports.

  • Manages a content calendar.

  • Uses analytics and related dashboards (Hootsuite, Talkwalker, etc.) for social listening and to evaluate the effectiveness of social media campaigns. Uses the data to improve reach and engagement on social media pages and platforms.

  • Attends events for live coverage on social media.

  • Stay informed about best practices and platform updates to ensure social media presence remains innovative and relevant.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at crafting compelling content and packaging messages in a variety of ways for multiple audiences and platforms.

  • Experience in digital marketing communications; Use of social media management tools (Hootsuite preferred), analytics and related dashboards.

  • Track record of leveraging content and social media to support an organization's vision and elevate its reputation.

  • Ability to adhere to and uphold university brand identity standards and editorial style guidelines.

  • Creative and collaborative problem solver.

  • Passionate about higher education, with knowledge and interest in a wide range of academic fields.
