The Bronx District Attorney’s Office seeks a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds contribute to serve the 1.4 million residents of the Bronx County community and who will pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice.
Auto Crime Prosecutions (ACP) are conducted within the Trial Division. Working in partnership with a variety of state, local, and federal agencies, ACP proactively investigates and prosecutes auto larceny rings and auto-stripping rings that steal car parts such as airbags, catalytic converters, and rims. ACP investigates and prosecutes complex fraud involving insurance fraud, internet auto schemes, tow truck, and garage fraud. ACP partners with the Crime Strategies Bureau to convert actionable intelligence into proactive investigations and prosecutions. The Trial Division seeks an Assistant District Attorney to conduct long-term investigations, prosecutions, and trials of Auto Crimes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct investigations.
- Draft subpoenas or warrants for electronic communications data, pen register, cell site/GPS, and other data or property.
- Perform a full range of intelligence, analytical, and investigative tasks.
- Structure collected evidence into an organized, cogent grand jury presentation.
- Prosecute cases that arise from long-term investigations, including meeting discovery obligations, drafting motions and responses, engaging in plea negotiations, conducting hearings, and trials.
- Oversee work performed by analysts, law enforcement partners, and effectively communicate best practices, areas of improvement, and investigative goals and results to other team members
members.
- Maintain current knowledge of investigative methods and proper application of relevant law.
- Participate in meetings and conferences between the DA’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.
- Clear and effective oral and written communication.
- Communicate across multiple organizational levels, both internally and externally
- Collaborate with the Crime Strategies Bureau, staff, and other bureaus to share intelligence.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Available nights, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS: - Juris Doctorate degree and admission to the New York State Bar in Good Standing required - US Citizenship and New York State residency are required as of the first day of employment - 3 + years of experience conducting investigative and trial work. - Experience conducting long-term investigations. - Significant grand jury experience. - Hearing and trial experience. - Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. - Extensive experience drafting and reviewing applications for search warrants (including those related to electronic devices and social media accounts), pen registers, and GPS data. - Clear and effective oral and written communication skills. - Strong legal writing skills. - Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics. - Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. - Ability to solve complex issues arising from investigations and case management problems from inception through conclusion, both professionally and fairly. - Ability to work in a collaborative and collegial manner. - Superior organizational, time management, writing, and communication skills. - Knowledge of NYS courts and the criminal justice system.
