Assistant Fashion Designer

Looking for an Assistant Designer with 3-5 years' experience in sweaters, tracksuits, woven pants & blouses.

Core Competencies

  • Attention to Detail: Precision in measurements and technical call-outs.
  • Time Management: Managing multiple deadlines within a fast-paced seasonal calendar. Responsible for navigating the intense time pressures of the production cycle, coordinating garment fittings, managing the hand-off of technical packs, and tracking samples with global factories. Success in this position relies on ensuring that the entire creative and manufacturing workflow remains synchronized to deliver a cohesive collection exactly on schedule for the upcoming season.

Design & Technical Development

  • Digital Illustration & CAD: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is essential for creating detailed, proportion-correct flat drawings and technical CADs.
  • Visual Rendering: Ability to use Adobe Photoshop for textile print placement, colorway iterations, and creating mood boards.
  • Fashion Illustration: Strong hand-sketching or digital drawing skills to quickly communicate silhouettes and design intent during the initial creative phase.
  • Technical Design & Specing: Developing comprehensive tech packs and PP Samples including detailed construction call-outs and initial size specifications to ensure design accuracy.
  • Graphic Design: A keen eye for typography and layout for branding elements, trim designs, and internal presentations.

Production & Supply Chain

  • Factory Communication: Serving as a primary point of contact for overseas or domestic vendors; clarifying technical details and monitoring the status of prototypes.
  • Sample Management: Tracking samples through various stages (proto, fit, and pre-production) to ensure they meet quality and design standards.
  • Fabrication Knowledge: A foundational understanding of garment construction, stitch types, and fabric behavior to troubleshoot production issues.

Creative Process & Project Management

  • Collection Lifecycle: Active participation in the creative process of creating a line, from trend research and concept development to final seasonal launches.
  • Market Research: Identifying emerging trends, color palettes, and fabric innovations relevant to the brand’s identity.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with pattern makers, merchants, and production teams to maintain the integrity of the design while meeting price points and deadlines.
