Microsoft's Corporate and External Legal Affairs (CELA) organization has a Leadership opportunity in the Infrastructure Legal Affairs team. In the role of Assistant General Counsel, Infrastructure Legal Affairs, you will lead a team providing legal advice and counsel to the Azure Hardware and Systems Infrastructure division within Microsoft. The division is responsible for engineering Microsoft's first party semiconductors, networking and other infrastructure hardware as well as sourcing and managing supply of third party hardware for its data centers. Legal Advice and Counsel

Serve as the primary legal advisor for the Azure Hardware and Systems Infrastructure division.

Identify and anticipate highly complex legal and/or other business issues.

Serve as a key business partner and advisor to senior executives; at times with the assistance of outside counsel.

Manage a wide variety of complex IP and technology transctions, ranging from technology development, manufacturing and logistics, supply and procurement.

Collaborate with specialists in trade, IP, and CELA partners to help define business strategy to manage legal risk and regulation in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment.
Solution Implementation and Process Improvement

Develop and implement solutions that anticipate and mitigate risks.

Manage and develop relationships with outside counsel and clients to create strategic and innovative solutions that address issues and achieve business objectives.

Provide feedback and evaluate process improvements that increase efficiencies.
Team Leadership and Management
-
Support and guide a team of 5+ attorneys who primarily support the Azure Hardware and Systems Infrastructure division and, where appropriate, also coordinate and work across Infrastructure Legal Affairs.

Coach and define objectives and outcomes that enable your team to adapt and grow.

Required Qualifications

Juris Doctorate Degree or international equivalent degree AND 9+ years experience as a practicing attorney in the areas of technology development, technology and IP transactions, and related counseling to executive business leaders
- OR equivalent experience.

Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction
Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience advising on cutting-edge technology, including semiconductors.

Experience supporting and guiding a team.

Ability to contribute effectively by working independently and efficiently on projects in a fast-paced environment while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.

Ability to demonstrate sound and practical business judgement in ambiguous situations.
Legal Counsel M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $160,700 - $284,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $207,700 - $311,500 per year.
