Job Title: Assistant General Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)

Reports To: General Manager

Location: The Ozarker Lodge, Branson, Missouri

Position Overview: The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and team leadership. The AGM acts as the General Manager in their absence, leading with a hands-on approach that emphasizes guest experience, staff development, and operational efficiency.

Scope of Work + Team and Primary Mission

  • Reports to the General Manager
  • Aids in establishing a positive relationship between Springboard and property ownership.
  • Maintains open channels of communication for all levels (line employees through General Manager) and monitors employee relations.
  • Ensures all required licenses, permits, contracts, insurance inspections, are in proper order, with the assistance of Controller.
  • Establishes and maintains positive civic, community, governmental and local business contacts.
  • Ensures the prompt and proper submission of all corporate, divisional and governmental reports required.
  • Participates in Manager on Duty program requiring weekend stay over, continuous monitoring throughout the hotel, troubleshooting and offering assistance in solving any problems that may arise.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Guest Experience

  • Support the General Manager in directing daily hotel operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Retail, and Guest Experience programs.
  • Actively engage with guests in public spaces to ensure satisfaction, resolve concerns, and build loyalty.
  • Monitor service standards to ensure consistency with The Ozarker Lodge and Springboard Hospitality brand.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to department supervisors and team members.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with The Ozarker’s culture.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling for operational departments.
  • Act as a mentor and role model to staff, maintaining professionalism and hospitality standards.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Assist in developing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance.
  • Track departmental expenses and labor costs to ensure profitability.
  • Oversee purchasing controls and inventory management processes.
  • Support payroll and HR functions in partnership with the General Manager.

Safety, Compliance & Facilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Housekeeping to protect the physical condition of the property.
  • Maintain security procedures to safeguard guests, staff, and property assets.

Brand & Community Engagement

  • Represent The Ozarker Lodge in guest interactions, community relationships, and vendor partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to promote on-brand experiences and packages.
  • Support the development of special events, programming, and partnerships that reinforce the hotel’s identity.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive hotel leadership experience required; boutique or lifestyle property experience strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial reports (P&L, budgets, variances).
  • Excellent guest service and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in property management systems and Microsoft Office; knowledge of hospitality POS and reporting tools a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking and standing; ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Personnel Management:

  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the OLS associate manual.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures as required to maintain a secure and safe environment for associates as well as guests.
  • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to the immediate supervisor/MOD.
  • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the associate handbook.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior Experience:
    • Three to four years of employment in a related position with this company or other companies.
  • IT Expertise:
    • Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred.
  • Education:
    • A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Subject Expertise:
    • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
    • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people, complex problems and efficient sales activities.
    • Makes decision within the standards of the position which can impact more than one department, but usually not more than one hotel. One general policies and procedures are available for guidance and superior is kept informed only of general directions of assignment.
    • Requires analyzing activities or information involving some original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions.
    • Must possess highly developed communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
    • Requires the exercise of considerable managerial skill as position involves frequent decisions, meeting of deadline, negotiations of contracts of vendors, analytical ability and the planning, organization development and coordination of large-scale work projects.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
  • Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues.
  • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
