Assistant General Manager – Duff’s Famous Wings (Sarasota, FL)

Duff’s Famous Wings, a staple in the Buffalo-style wing scene for over 50 years, is expanding in Sarasota—and we’re looking for an energetic, knowledgeable Assistant General Manager to lead our hospitality team! Deliver Legendary Hospitality – Set the tone for a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere where guests feel valued and want to return.

Lead & Develop a Winning Team – Recruit, train, and mentor a top-tier staff that consistently delivers warm, attentive service.

Drive a Memorable Guest Experience – Maintain service excellence by observing floor operations, resolving issues quickly, and engaging with guests.

Support Team & Scheduling – Create schedules that support high performance and team morale, while maintaining labor goals.

Uphold High Standards – Ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health codes and brand policies in all guest-facing areas.

Coordinate with BOH – Partner with the Kitchen Manager to ensure smooth communication and food quality from the kitchen to the table.

Assistant General Manager – Key Duties

Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations across front and back of house to ensure smooth service flow.
- Support the General Manager in executing operational standards and company policies.
- Open and close the restaurant; ensure readiness for service and proper end-of-day procedures.
- Maintain consistent floor presence during peak hours to manage guest flow and service execution.

Team Management & Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor team members to maintain high performance and morale.
- Lead by example—promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work culture.
- Conduct shift meetings, performance evaluations, and ongoing coaching for FOH and BOH staff.
- Assist in scheduling to meet labor targets while ensuring adequate staffing during high-volume events.

Guest Experience
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience by ensuring hospitality standards are met and exceeded.
- Interact with guests to build relationships and resolve concerns quickly and professionally.
- Oversee service quality, speed, and consistency, particularly during sporting events and promotions.

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist the GM in monitoring financial performance including sales, labor, and cost of goods.
- Track and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports to identify trends and opportunities.
- Support inventory management, ordering, and vendor relations to maintain cost control.
- Ensure accurate cash handling, deposits, and adherence to financial procedures.

Compliance & Safety
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and alcohol regulations.
- Ensure ServSafe, sanitation, and workplace safety standards are upheld.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and equipment functionality.

Marketing & Events
- Support the planning and execution of marketing promotions, game-day events, and community partnerships.
- Collaborate with the GM and marketing team to drive guest traffic and brand awareness.
- Evaluate event performance and guest feedback for continuous improvement.

Leadership Support
- Act as GM-on-duty when the General Manager is offsite.
- Provide consistent communication between departments to ensure alignment on goals.
- Contribute ideas to improve operations, employee engagement, and overall profitability.Who You Are:

  • Experienced Leader – 1+ years in an Assistant General Manager or supervisory role in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Hospitality-Driven – You create a friendly, engaging environment for both guests and staff.
  • Detail-Oriented Organizer – You manage floor plans, guest flow, and service execution with ease.
  • Excellent Communicator – Clear, positive, and professional with guests and team members alike.
  • Team Builder – Skilled in training, motivating, and managing FOH and BOH teams to achieve top performance.
  • Calm Under Pressure – You thrive in busy environments and can think on your feet.
  • Skilled in both Toast POS and Resy reservation systems
