Job Description

The Assistant General Manager of Environmental Services directs a wide variety of Environmental Service requirements in a client servicing operation and assigns subordinates to these activities. Evening, holiday, and weekend hours are required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently directs, assigns, supervises, and guides all assigned environmental service employees.
  • Plans and prepares work schedules and assignments.
  • Approves assigned employee payroll documents, payables, etc.
  • Completes other accounting, safety, or administrative documentation or record keeping.
  • Completes assigned supply orders and billings.
  • Assists in training new staff and provides ongoing training to existing staff.
  • Regularly takes, controls, replaces, and disperses assigned inventories.
  • Regularly conducts facility inspections to maintain the quality of provided services.
  • Coordinates associated equipment care and maintenance.
  • Conducts safety meetings and insures daily operations are in compliance with company safety requirements.
  • Establishes quality standards and work procedures for staff and evaluates their performance.
  • Personally resolves minor maintenance or client emergencies as they occur or takes steps to permanently address them.
  • Identifies, resolves, or appropriately reports site's safety hazards.
  • Knowledgeable about the use of industrial cleaning products and chemicals, and interpreting Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Assist employees in the resolution of work related difficulties.
  • May infrequently perform some actual duties of assigned employees to cover various circumstances.
  • Other related duties may also be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May supervise, either directly or through lead personnel employees in the environmental services area. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge of environmental services or related duties.
  • A minimum of (2) years’ experience supervising or managing employees.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Must be able to operate basic office equipment.
  • A valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

  • Must be able to remain in touch with the work environment and current work issues through active involvement and communication.
  • Must be able to balance multiple activities while still paying proper attention to details.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors and Outdoors, frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud.

Description of environment: Environment will vary based on the facility assigned to.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently to constantly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Must have the stamina to work 12-hour shifts for extended periods of time.
