Assistant General Manager – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

A leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company in the State of Qatar is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and results-driven Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in leading and overseeing all manufacturing operations and business functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in managing all plant operations, including Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Engineering, Maintenance, Warehousing, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Monitor operational performance and ensure achievement of business objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure full compliance with GMP requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Support and manage regulatory inspections, audits, and interactions with health authorities.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Act on behalf of the General Manager when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Production, Quality Systems, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and GMP requirements.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must have recent hands-on pharmaceutical manufacturing leadership experience within the last five years.
  • Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams across Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical business operations, cost control, productivity improvement, and performance management.
  • Experience managing regulatory inspections, GMP compliance programs, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Proven track record in organizational transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Extensive experience in Sterile Pharmaceutical Manufacturing is essential.
  • Hands-on experience in managing and leading sterile manufacturing facilities, including aseptic processing, clean rooms, sterilization systems, environmental monitoring, and contamination control programs.
  • Previous leadership experience in sterile manufacturing operations such as injectables, IV solutions, ophthalmic products, or other sterile dosage forms is highly preferred.
  • Experience dealing with Gulf and international regulatory authorities is highly desirable.
  • Experience in facilities approved by GMP, EU GMP, PIC/S, MHRA, FDA, or equivalent regulatory agencies will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Candidates with predominantly academic, consulting, or research backgrounds, without recent pharmaceutical manufacturing leadership experience, may not be considered.
