Assistant Housekeeping Manager

Job Summary:

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for supervising the housekeeping team and ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are clean, well-maintained, and meet the hotel’s high standards of cleanliness and presentation. This role supports the Housekeeping Manager in staff training, inventory control, scheduling, and maintaining service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, including room attendants, public area cleaners, and linen attendants.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
  • Coordinate with the front office and maintenance departments to ensure timely room readiness and address any issues.
  • Supervise and support housekeeping staff, ensuring proper grooming, punctuality, and adherence to hotel policies.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, guest amenities, linen, and uniforms.
  • Assist in training new team members and conducting refresher training sessions.
  • Help prepare and manage staff rosters, shifts, and schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns regarding housekeeping services promptly and professionally.
  • Enforce health and safety standards, hygiene protocols, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support the Housekeeping Manager in administrative tasks such as reporting, audits, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years of housekeeping experience in a hotel environment, with at least 2+ year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and train a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using housekeeping software or property management systems (PMS).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
