Assistant HVAC Project Manager (APM)

About our Company

Dynamic Air is a leading manufacturers representative of HVAC-related products in New England. We deliver energy-efficient HVAC solutions backed by exceptional technical support and customer service.

We are a great fit for people looking for a linear career change within the HVAC industry— for example, a field technician ready to transition into project management, or a mechanical engineer who wants to grow into a more customer-facing, solutions-oriented role while staying close to the technical work.

At Dynamic Air, you will find a supportive, team-first culture: experienced teammates who teach, leaders who are accessible, and a pace that values doing things right. We respect your time and prioritize sustainable workloads, flexibility, and work-life balance so you can build a long-term career here.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our team. This full-time, hybrid role is ideal for someone who knows HVAC (from the field, the shop, the design side, or engineering) and is ready to take the next step into project management and cross-functional coordination. In this role, you will work alongside Sales Engineers, contractors, and manufacturers from early design through installation and startup. You will learn our processes, build strong relationships, and grow your responsibilities over time. This position includes exposure to the pre-construction and sales-support side of the business, while remaining primarily focused on project coordination and execution. Long-term growth opportunities may include project management, sales engineering, or a blend of both based on team needs and your strengths.

Work Location & Travel Expectations

This is a hybrid role with a mix of work-from-home and in-field/site time. In a typical week, the schedule includes approximately 2–3 days working from home and 2–3 days on the road, though some weeks may be fully remote or fully on-site based on project needs. A successful candidate will be able to stay organized, responsive, and effective while working independently from home and while traveling between job sites. Most job sites are in the Greater Boston area, with occasional travel throughout New England. Candidates must arrange their own transportation to and from job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Sales Engineers to support HVAC equipment selections, submittals, and a smooth handoff from pre-construction into project execution.
  • Coordinate project details with contractors, customers, and internal teams - tracking schedules, deliverables, and open items.
  • Communicate with manufacturers to confirm equipment selections, manage updates, and help troubleshoot technical questions.
  • Attend site visits as needed to verify progress, support installation questions, and help drive successful startups.
  • Work with the Dynamic Air Service Team to support field activities, document lessons learned and resolve issues quickly and professionally.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • This can be an entry-level role for the right person. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent HVAC/construction industry experience (field, service, controls, fabrication, coordination, etc.) preferred.
  • Comfortable learning and using common tools (Microsoft Office required; AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu are a plus - we can train the right candidate).
  • Ability (or strong interest) to read and interpret drawings, construction documents, and specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills; able to ask questions and follow through to resolution.
  • Organized and dependable—able to manage multiple priorities and keep projects moving without burning out.
  • Clear communicator who enjoys working with customers, contractors, and internal teams (great fit for someone who wants a customer-facing role and is interested in pre-construction/sales-support work as part of the job).
  • Team-oriented, humble, and proactive—comfortable working independently, but never alone.
  • Prior experience in HVAC, controls, or commercial construction is a strong plus (but we’re open to adjacent technical backgrounds).

At Dynamic Air, we invest in people who want to grow. If you are ready to take your HVAC experience and build a more office-based, relationship-driven career while still staying connected to the technical side, we would love to meet you.
