Assistant Infant Teacher

We are looking for a mindful, and empathetic Assistant Teacher to work in one of our infant classrooms at our beautiful, inclusive, and vibrant preschool. Under the direction of the Lead Infant Teachers, our infant rooms (3 months to 18 months) use the RIE and Montessori philosophies as a guide to create an intentional, warm, and respectful care environment for infants. Your role as an Assistant Infant Teacher will be to work with a team of teachers to help foster this intentional approach, create consistency throughout the day, and provide thoughtful care to the children and families we serve. This is a full time position Mon-Fri (8 or 9 hour shift) 9 or 10am - 6pm.

Responsibilities include:

• Intentional warm interactions with children, coworkers, and families.
• Preparing and serving bottles and meals.
• Observation of infants and their environment.
• Communicating with coworkers throughout the day about the children's needs.
• Putting infants down for naps.
• Changing diapers.
• Carry out all preparation and clean up responsibilities.
• Being flexible and able to respond to things quickly and calmly.

Qualifications:

• Ability to get up and down off the floor repeatedly throughout the day.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds off the floor.
• High School diploma required.
• Classroom experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
• Experience with young infants preferred.
• Infant/Child & Adult CPR and First Aid (Need within 30 days and we can help with this.)
• Food Worker Card (completed within 7 days of start date)
• 30 hour Child Care Basics (completed within 90 days)
• DCYF Portable Background check
• Infant Safe Sleep training. (completed prior to start date)
• TB test (completed prior to start date)
• Proof of MMR vaccine.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.50 - $23.00 per hour
