Assistant Infant Teacher

Barnette Academy is a childcare center in Bucktown, Chicago! We are centered on play-based learning and dedicated to creating a welcoming environment where children flourish. We are looking for teachers to help us carry out our curriculum and build meaningful relationships with our children, families and community.

This post is for an Assistant Teacher position in our Infant Room (6 weeks- 15 months). This is a Full-Time position working M-F. The shift will be a 9 hour shift with a 1 hour lunch break.

Job Duties

• Support the Lead Teachers with the implementation of lessons and activities
• Integrate examples modeled by the lead teacher into own teaching repertoire
• Take feedback well and be willing to learn
• Communicate with parents and other staff in a warm and professional manner
• Willing to assist with classroom upkeep including but not limited to, dish washing, food prep, and laundry
• Engage with children in an age appropriate and caring manner
• Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to different situations
• Attend occasional events or trainings outside of work hours

Qualifications

• Passionate about Early Childhood Education
• Must have a highschool diploma or GED
• Previous experience working with children preferred
• Ability to lift children, sit, kneel, and bend as necessary to interact with children and fulfill job duties
• Will be required to pass a background check
• Up to date on all required vaccinations
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification within 3 months of hire date (Barnette will provide assistance)
