Assistant Laboratory Specialist – Roads & Bridges

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Laboratory Specialist to support materials testing and quality control activities for Roads & Bridges projects. The role ensures that all construction materials and workmanship comply with project specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements through accurate laboratory testing and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in conducting laboratory and field tests on construction materials such as soil, asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and steel
• Support quality control inspections for Roads & Bridges construction activities
• Ensure all testing is carried out in accordance with approved standards (ASTM, BS, AASHTO, or local authority requirements)
• Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner
• Assist in calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Ensure proper sample collection, labeling, storage, and tracking procedures
• Support senior laboratory specialists and QA/QC engineers in investigations of non-conformities
• Maintain laboratory documentation, logs, and quality records
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures in the laboratory
• Coordinate with site teams to ensure material approvals and compliance with specifications
• Assist in preparing laboratory reports for submission to consultants and project management

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 3–7 years of experience in construction materials testing or laboratory work
• Experience in Roads & Bridges or large infrastructure projects is preferred
• Knowledge of laboratory testing standards (ASTM, BS, AASHTO)
• Familiarity with QA/QC procedures in construction projects
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting
• Ability to work in a fast-paced site and laboratory environment
• Basic understanding of construction materials and mix designs
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Certification in laboratory testing (preferred but not mandatory)

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
