Assistant Lead Mechanical Construction Engineer (Piping)

Job Description

The Assistant Lead Mechanical Construction Engineer will support the lead construction team in managing and executing piping construction activities on site. The role involves coordination of engineering drawings, supervision of site execution, preparation of quotations and material requirements, and ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and execution of mechanical piping construction activities
• Review and interpret piping drawings including P&ID, isometric, and GA drawings
• Support preparation of quotations, BOQ, and material take-off (MTO)
• Coordinate with procurement for material requests, technical queries, and vendor coordination
• Supervise site activities including piping fabrication, erection, and installation
• Ensure construction work is executed as per approved drawings, standards, and specifications
• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, QA/QC, and HSE teams
• Monitor daily site progress and support reporting to senior engineers
• Identify and resolve site technical issues related to piping installation
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and project requirements
• Support testing, pre-commissioning, and mechanical completion activities

Requirements

• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Mechanical Construction (Piping)
• Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, fabrication, and installation methods
• Experience in preparation of quotations, BOQ, and material take-off
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (P&ID, isometrics, GA)
• Experience in Oil & Gas / Industrial construction projects preferred
• Strong coordination and site supervision skills
• Good communication, documentation, and reporting abilities

Education (Preferred)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant strong experience may also be considered
