Assistant Librarian

Position Overview
The Assistant Librarian supports the Head Librarian in providing effective library services and resources to students, faculty, and staff. The role focuses on user support, resource management, and ensuring the library remains a welcoming and well-organized learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional assistance to students, faculty, and staff in locating and using print and electronic resources.
- Support the management and organization of library collections, including cataloging and inventory.
- Deliver library orientations and workshops to improve information literacy and resource use.
- Supervise and guide Library Assistants in daily operations.
- Contribute to the development and application of library policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper use of library facilities and technologies, reporting and resolving issues as needed.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of library systems, resources, and electronic databases.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to deliver user support, research assistance, and training sessions.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and library-related technologies.
- Ability to supervise and support staff effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Previous experience in an academic library setting is an advantage.
- Familiarity with integrated library systems and electronic databases.
