What is a Assistant Manager Backup & Storage - MMBL?

As a Assistant Manager Backup & Storage you will be responsible for managing the Bank’s enterprise backup, storage, and disaster recovery environments. This role ensures data protection, system availability, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability across enterprise-scale infrastructure.

You will oversee backup operations, storage administration, and disaster recovery processes to safeguard mission-critical data and ensure business continuity. The role requires strong expertise in enterprise backup platforms, SAN/NAS storage technologies, and disaster recovery practices.

The administrator will collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to maintain a secure, scalable, and highly available data protection ecosystem.


What Assistant Manager Backup & Storage Does - MMBL ?


  • Administer and manage enterprise backup solutions (NetBackup preferred) to ensure successful backup and recovery operations
  • Monitor and troubleshoot backup jobs, optimize backup policies, and validate data recoverability through regular testing
  • Handle data restoration requests and ensure minimal service disruption
  • Plan and execute disaster recovery (DR) drills and periodic recovery testing
  • Perform backup capacity planning and forecasting to support infrastructure growth
  • Administer enterprise SAN/NAS storage platforms such as Huawei Dorado, Dell EMC, HPE, or Pure Storage
  • Manage LUN provisioning, storage allocation, and performance tuning
  • Conduct storage capacity planning and execute firmware upgrades and patch management
  • Manage replication and snapshot technologies to ensure data redundancy and availability
  • Support cloud storage environments (AWS/Azure) where applicable
  • Maintain and update Disaster Recovery documentation, ensuring RPO/RTO compliance
  • Provide failover and failback support during DR testing or incidents
  • Implement security and compliance controls, including role-based access control (RBAC) and audit logging
  • Enforce data retention policies and support internal or regulatory compliance audits
  • Troubleshoot backup and storage incidents and perform root cause analysis


What are we looking for & what does It take to be a Assistant Manager Backup & Storage ?


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in enterprise backup and storage administration
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale, mission-critical infrastructure environments
  • Hands-on experience with backup platforms such as NetBackup or Veeam
  • Strong understanding of SAN/NAS storage technologies and data protection strategies
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work within structured escalation and SLA-driven environments

Essential Skills:

  • Strong incident management and root cause analysis capabilities
  • Proactive mindset for capacity planning and infrastructure optimization
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and compliance management skills
  • Strong coordination with cross-functional IT and security teams
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management

Desirable Skills:

  • Certifications in NetBackup, Veeam, or enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE)
  • Experience working in banking or highly regulated environments
  • Exposure to cloud storage and hybrid infrastructure environments
