Assistant Manager – Finance (General Ledger)

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Manager – Finance (General Ledger) to manage and oversee general ledger functions within a building contracting company. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction accounting, compliance with UAE regulations, and month-end and year-end closing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and control the General Ledger (GL) ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Handle month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries, accruals, and provisions
- Reconcile GL accounts, bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and balance sheet schedules
- Monitor project-related accounting, including cost allocation and expense recognition
- Coordinate with QS, procurement, and project teams for cost tracking and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations, including VAT returns and audits
- Support external and internal audits and provide required documentation
- Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Ensure adherence to company policies, IFRS standards, and local statutory requirements
- Review and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Supervise and guide junior accounting staff as required
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA (preferred)
- 5–8 years of experience in finance/accounting within a building contracting or construction company in Dubai
- Strong hands-on experience in General Ledger accounting
- Good knowledge of construction/project accounting
- Thorough understanding of UAE VAT and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (Oracle, SAP, Tally, or similar)
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Excellent communication and team management skills
