Assistant Manager Finance

Assistant Manager – Finance (General Ledger)

Location: Dubai, UAE
Industry: Building Contracting / Construction
Reporting To: Finance Manager /CFO

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Manager – Finance (General Ledger) to manage and oversee general ledger functions within a building contracting company. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction accounting, compliance with UAE regulations, and month-end and year-end closing activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and control the General Ledger (GL) ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Handle month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries, accruals, and provisions
  • Reconcile GL accounts, bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and balance sheet schedules
  • Monitor project-related accounting, including cost allocation and expense recognition
  • Coordinate with QS, procurement, and project teams for cost tracking and variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations, including VAT returns and audits
  • Support external and internal audits and provide required documentation
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, IFRS standards, and local statutory requirements
  • Review and improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Supervise and guide junior accounting staff as required

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA (preferred)
  • 5–8 years of experience in finance/accounting within a building contracting or construction company in Dubai
  • Strong hands-on experience in General Ledger accounting
  • Good knowledge of construction/project accounting
  • Thorough understanding of UAE VAT and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (Oracle, SAP, Tally, or similar)
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and team management skills
