Key Responsibilities
- Financial Close & Reporting
- Manage end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process.
- Prepare financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in line with local GAAP / IFRS.
- Ensure timely submission of internal management reports.
- Costing & Inventory Management
- Oversee product costing (raw materials, labor, overhead) for locally manufactured and imported paints.
- Analyze variances (standard vs actual), production inefficiencies, wastage.
- Maintain and reconcile raw material, work-in-progress, finished goods inventory accounts.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Assist in preparing the annual budget & periodic forecasts.
- Monitor performance vs budget, analyze deviations, recommend corrective actions.
- Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS or local), statutory requirements, tax regulations.
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audit; facilitate their queries.
- Maintain internal controls; ensure processes are in place to safeguard assets.
- Cost Control & Profitability Analysis
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across procurement, production, supply chain.
- Perform margin / profitability analysis by product line, client, region etc.
- ERP / Systems & Process Improvement
- Ensure accurate setup of chart of accounts, cost centers, overhead allocations in ERP.
- Lead efforts to automate / simplify reporting and financial processes.
- Enhance reporting frameworks / KPIs to monitor business performance.
- Team Management & Collaboration
- Supervise junior accountants / financial reporting staff; provide coaching / review work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—production, procurement, supply chain, sales—to gather inputs & resolve discrepancies.
- Ad hoc Analysis & Strategic Support
- Provide financial input / analysis for decision making: pricing, new product development, investment etc.
- Participate in special projects (e.g. cost reduction programs, new accounting standard implementation).
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance; professional qualification (ACCA / CA / ICMA) preferred.
- Typically 5-7 years of relevant experience, ideally in manufacturing / process / chemical / paints industry.
- Strong knowledge of costing methods, inventory valuation, variance analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting standards (IFRS / local), statutory & tax requirements (sales tax, income tax etc.).
- Good ERP experience (SAP / Oracle / other) and strong MS Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills; ability to present reports / insights to senior management.
