Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Manager – Imports to manage both operations and pricing for Air and Sea Freight imports. The candidate will ensure smooth execution of shipments, accurate pricing, and compliance with import regulations while coordinating with clients, shipping lines, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations (Air & Sea Freight):
- Manage end-to-end import operations, including documentation, customs clearance, cargo handling, and delivery.
- Coordinate with shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, and CFS/ICD for timely shipment execution.
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Resolve operational issues such as delays, missing documents, or cargo discrepancies.
- Track shipments and update clients on status proactively.
Pricing & Commercial:
- Prepare competitive and profitable import freight quotations for both air and sea shipments.
- Analyze cost components including freight, surcharges, duties, and handling charges.
- Support sales teams in rate negotiation and pricing strategy.
- Monitor market trends, trade lanes, and competitor rates to optimize profitability.
Team & Reporting:
- Prepare reports on shipment status, operational performance, and pricing analysis.
- Mentor and support junior staff in operations and pricing functions.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to ensure client satisfaction.
Candidate Requirements:
- 5–8 years of experience in import operations and pricing covering both Air and Sea Freight within a freight forwarding or logistics company.
- Strong knowledge of import procedures, documentation, customs clearance, and cargo handling.
- Proficiency in pricing calculation, cost analysis, and freight rate negotiation.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP/CRM systems, and shipment tracking tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- Target-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple shipments simultaneously.
