Position Summary:
We are seeking a candidate with 8 to 10 years of experience in handling IP for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API).
Job Responsibilities:

IP Search & Analysis:
Conduct literature searches (patent/non-patent) and prepare IP summary reports/landscapes.

IP Evaluation & Clearance:
Perform IP evaluation and clearance for APIs and Key Starting Materials (KSMs), analyse the associated route of synthesis (ROS), polymorphic forms, salt forms, and particle size.

Vendor Coordination & Approval:
Coordinate with API Vendors on IP-related queries and clear the API.

Patent Validity Analysis:
Evaluate and Prepare patent invalidity reports.

Opposition Filing:
Identify blocking patents / applications and file pre-grant oppositions, third party observations (TPO), post-grant oppositions and / or revocation.

Due Diligence:
Conduct IP due diligence (landscape reports, dossier review, monitoring relevant patents/applications) for in-license products.

Cross-Functional Liaison:
Coordinate with multiple stakeholders like R&D, Sourcing, project management, portfolio on API matters.

IP Monitoring:
Periodically monitor new patent publications and changes in patent status.

Compliance & Legal Updates:
Stay updated on current IP laws of different countries and legal developments.
Preferred Qualification

Education:
M.Sc. or PhD in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry.

Post Graduate Diploma in IPR, or registration as an Indian Patent Agent will be preferred.
Desirable Knowledge & Skills (Functional/Technical)

Chemistry Fundamentals:
Thorough understanding of organic reactions, spectroscopy, stereochemistry, impurity profiling, and applied polymorph evaluation based on patent scenarios.

Solid State Chemistry Interpretation:
Good understanding of analytical data specifically XRPD, DSC, and TGA, and their correlation to patent claims covering specific polymorphs and PSD.

Database Proficiency:
Well-trained in using IP databases (Paid and free databases) such as SciFinder, Reaxys, Orbit, Espacenet, WIPO, EPO, USPTO, and various national patent office databases.

Search Expertise:
Excellent understanding and experience in conducting substance and reaction searches using Sci-Finder/Reaxys databases.

Legal Expertise:
Good knowledge of patent law of different countries including US, Europe, India, and Emerging Markets.
