Assistant Manager Legal

What is Assistant Manager Legal- MMBL?


The AM Legal is responsible for providing legal support and guidance to the organization by ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role involves reviewing and drafting contracts, coordinating with external legal counsel, managing litigation matters, and supporting regulatory and corporate governance requirements. The incumbent will work closely with internal stakeholders to mitigate legal risks and safeguard the organization’s interests.


What Assistant Manager Legal Does - MMBL?


  • Draft and respond to legal notices and prepare other legal documents.
  • Provide legal opinions on HR-related matters, including warnings, show cause notices, disciplinary enquiries, and employee disputes.
  • Coordinate and liaise with internal departments and external legal counsels for effective handling and defense of court cases.
  • Conduct meetings with relevant internal stakeholders and external counsels to discuss, strategize, and finalize litigation matters.
  • Assist branches and offices in filing suits and ensure timely follow-up of all legal cases.
  • Draft and review written statements, para-wise comments, applications, and other court-related documents for litigation matters.
  • Study constitutions, regulations, ordinances, judicial decisions, and legal reports to assess implications on cases and ensure legal compliance of documents.
  • Draft and review legal and business documents, including undertakings, NOCs, bank guarantees, bonds, product documents, internal SOPs/policies, and business correspondence.
  • Ensure protection of the organization’s Intellectual Property Rights, including coordination for timely registration of trademarks and copyrights.
  • Respond to branch queries regarding customer legal claims and provide legal guidance on day-to-day operational matters.


What are we looking for and what does it take to be Assistant Manager Legal - MMBL?


  • Hold a LLB or LLM degree from a reputable Institution.
  • Have 3-5 years relevant work experience Certifications (Preferred)
  • Relevant professional certifications will be preferred.
  • Microfinance banking experience will be considered an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related reporting tools.
