Assistant Manager - Maintenance and Projects

Job Description


Project Management

  • Lead end-to-end execution of capital projects including concept development, detailed engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, validation, and handover.
  • Prepare project execution strategies, budgets, schedules, and risk registers.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (Factory Act, environmental & statutory approvals, etc.), GMP, FSSC 22000, and LDC standards.
  • Implement process safety management practices in all projects, including equipment design, hazardous area classification, and compliance with ATEX/FM & HDI standards.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender packages and ensure value engineering for cost, quality, safety, and reliability.
  • Work with corporate engineering/consultants for design approvals, feasibility studies, and long-term projects planning.
  • Drive documentation, training, and smooth handover of projects to operations and maintenance teams.

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

  • Lead and integrate process safety principles into project and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with LDC, Local Safety standard, environmental laws, and corporate EHS standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP, and safety audits for projects and utilities.
  • Promote a culture of safety across project and maintenance teams with zero-incident mindset.
  • Implement energy conservation, waste minimization, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensuring strict implementation of safety.
  • To understand global SHE requirement and follow the global guidelines
  • To guide/train the people and ensure implementation of SHE system,
  • To provide active support to SHE Management system implementation for critical items work permit system, Accident /incident reporting, safety training etc. Provide support to organization to meet SHE target.

Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with production, Quality, Safety, Procurement, and Finance teams for smooth project execution and utility operations.
  • Communicate project update, progress, risk and mitigation plan with relevant stakeholder at regular interval.
  • Coordinate and Manage the CAPEX portfolio, ensuring alignment with business priorities, budgeting and timely execution.
  • Support finance and procurement in CAPEX budgeting, spend control, and vendor development, capitalization & discard related process.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to operations.
  • Train, guide, and mentor technicians and operators in projects and maintenance.

Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of experience in projects and maintenance within FMCG/food processing/chemical/edible oil industry.
  • Knowledge of English (Preferable), Gujarati & Hindi must for written & oral communication.

Additional Information
  • Planning, Scheduling, budgeting and execution of Projects. Ability to read and interpret P&ID, electric diagrams and technical manuals, knowledge of project management methodologies, energy conservation practices, efficiency improvement and sustainability projects, understanding of safety standards.
  • Hands-on experience in utilities, packaging lines, process equipment and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of process safety, OSHA, GMP, FSSC 22000, hygienic design, and statutory compliance.
  • Strong Vendor & Contract Management skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP and Engineering documentation is preferable.
  • Other soft skills required are Problem-Solving & Analytical ability, Decision Making, Planning, Excellent Communication skills, Adaptability & Agility, Continuous improvement mindset, Leadership & Stakeholder Management etc.
