Assistant Manager Meter Reading

Purpose

This position provides direction to Meter Readers/Meter Data Maintenance Officers (MDMO) ensuring accurate and timely meter aimed at bringing improvement in Quality of Billing (QoB). The responsibilities are carried out WITH the objective to monitor consumption of electricity, indicate irregularities, reduce costs, contribute in value addition through effective resource utilization, ensure consumer satisfaction and compliance with HSEQ standards WITHIN the limits of organizational policies and SOPs, departmental objectives, environmental policies, HSEQ standards, business code of conduct and directions/guidelines from supervisor.

Education (Mandatory)

Minimum graduate

Trainings & Certifications (Mandatory)

Basic Knowledge of electricity meters w.r.t. type and make etc.

Knowledge of handheld meter devices

Record Keeping

Intermediate knowledge of MS Office

Area Of Responsibilities

Meter Reading Management (40%)

Monitors readings of 100% consumer population of the IBC as per monthly meter reading schedule

Ensures complete reading of Cycle day-wise Meter Reading Units (MRU) on the day specified in the schedule

Validates that the entire reading activity gets carried out through HHU (Hand Held) Device; meter reader to exercise due care in handling of the provided device

Undertakes due care in verifying inactive consumers during each month’s reading and takes corrective actions such as billing activation, move-out with allowance where necessary etc.

Guides meters readers to record visible discrepancies during reading routine and undertakes due follow-ups till action is taken on at least the critical ones

Rotates MRs based on Meter Reading Units (MRU) on monthly basis

Dispatches MRs timely along with maintaining a strict punctuality routine

Monitors BDV performance and site inspections against bill not received complaints

Highlights all meter-related and other discrepancies to recovery team for timely resolution that may not occur in coming month

Performance Monitoring (20%)

Monitors billing of Average cases with special focus on Continuous Average cases and routes highlighted ones to concerned quarter for corrective action

Undertakes coordination with AM Data Administration for acquiring insight specially on Assessed/Average, abnormal billing variations and other anomalies pointed out during screening process

Uses HHU dashboard optimally and its associated reports for maintaining better controlling of the system

Processes IRBs & other billing related documentation on SAP, meter change advises and supplementary billing

Forwards all documents to relevant section to ensure proper billing of leftover units in the replaced meters/charging of due units

Area of Responsibility Continued

Coordination (20%)

Handles all device related issues such as connectivity, battery, display etc. ensuring uninterrupted field activity

Coordinates with central HHU team and vendor for timely replacement of old/damaged devices and for acquiring new ones from IT department

HSE Management (10%)

Conducts surprise visits on site to monitor implementation of safety laws/tools as per defined HSEQ standards

Facilitates team in provision of safety trainings to concerned individuals on site

Implements zero fatality vision through proper adherence with defined safety criterions such as SLA, fire and safety etc.

Executes techniques for improvement in working environment; Ensures functional and operational adherence with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures as well as safety and well-being of staff and public

People Management (10%)

Identifies training requirements of the Staff; contributes in performance management of direct reports; Manages development, career planning and engagement of subordinates in coordination with HR

Handles administrative issues including recruitment, leaves, grievances and other issues; Provides guidance to the direct reports as and when required

Establishes team-spirit and ensures seamless interaction among team members; Ensures parity among subordinates with regards to learning and growth opportunities
