Position Overview:

The Assistant Manager of Clinical Operations combines clinical expertise with contemporary leadership practices aligned with the IU Health Way to achieve outstanding clinical and organizational outcomes. This role partners with the unit Manager, of this 30-bed Multispecialty Surgical Unit that receives a wide variety of surgical patients, to develop and execute action plans focused on quality and safety improvements, care affordability, and enhancing patient and team member experiences. The incumbent leads the implementation of these plans, analyzes their effectiveness, and fosters an environment where the interprofessional team is empowered to reach excellence. The role promotes evidence-based practices, professional nursing standards, and supports nursing practice advancement. The Assistant Manager is a member of the unit leadership team, overseeing operations staffing 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the unit Manager to develop and implement action plans aimed at quality, safety, and patient experience improvements.

  • Lead the execution of action plans and evaluate their outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Foster an environment of team empowerment, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Support the advancement of nursing practice through advocacy for evidence-based and professional standards.
  • Participate as a key member of the unit leadership team, ensuring smooth operational management around the clock.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and professional growth within the team.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

  • Licensure & Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

- Additional advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.
