ASSISTANT MANAGER (PRODUCTION) - HULL [Ship building]

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate hull fabrication and assembly activities in assigned zones or blocks.
  • Interpret and implement structural drawings, welding symbols, and construction standards.
  • Ensure proper alignment, fit-up, welding, and dimensional tolerances during block assembly.
  • Monitor progress of hull construction and ensure adherence to schedules and budget.
  • Conduct inspections to verify quality and conformance to technical specifications and standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV).
  • Coordinate with design, planning, and quality control teams for smooth production flow.
  • Troubleshoot technical and production issues related to steelwork and propose solutions.
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with shipyard HSE policies.
  • Support pre-outfitting, lifting, and block erection operations as needed.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, and client inspections related to hull structures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work progress, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and rework activities.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in hull construction or structural engineering within a shipyard environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting hull structural drawings and welding specifications.
    • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding procedures (SMAW, FCAW, SAW, etc.), and inspection techniques.
    • Familiarity with classification society rules and ship construction standards.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple production activities.
  • Software: Familiarity with AutoCAD, 3D modeling tools (like Tribon, AVEVA Marine), and MS Office.
