Restaurant Name: Bonsai (Thai & Chinese Cuisine)

Bonsai is seeking a proactive and customer-oriented Assistant Restaurant Manager to support daily operations and serve as a strong front-facing leader for our Thai and Chinese restaurant. This mid-level role requires hands-on involvement in service, team supervision, and operational excellence to ensure a smooth and memorable dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Operations Management

  • Support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and front-of-house teams.
  • Monitor service flow, table turnover, and overall guest experience.
  • Assist in inventory control, stock ordering, and supplier coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and food handling standards.
  • Handle opening and closing duties, including cash handling and reports.

Front-of-House & Guest Experience

  • Act as the primary point of contact for guests during service hours.
  • Welcome guests, manage reservations, seating, and waitlists.
  • Handle guest feedback, complaints, and special requests professionally.
  • Maintain high standards of service presentation and staff grooming.
  • Ensure the dining area is clean, organized, and visually appealing.

Team Supervision & Training

  • Supervise FOH staff including servers, hosts, and cashiers.
  • Assist in staff scheduling, attendance tracking, and shift management.
  • Train new staff on service standards, menu knowledge, and SOPs.
  • Motivate the team and lead by example during busy service periods.

Sales & Performance Support

  • Promote menu items, specials, and up selling strategies.
  • Support initiatives to improve sales, customer retention, and reviews.
  • Monitor daily sales performance and assist with basic reporting.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in restaurant operations or front-of-house management.
  • Prior experience in Thai, Chinese, or Asian cuisine restaurants preferred.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of restaurant operations, cash handling, and service flow.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced dining environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a calm, professional demeanour.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
