Job Title: Assistant Manager (Student Engagement / Internship)

Position Overview:


The Assistant Manager (Student Engagement) is a leadership position that will play a key role in strengthening career awareness, internship participation, and placement outcomes for students in Delhi government schools. The role will focus on program implementation, building student-centered engagement models, building & facilitating employer and partner connections, and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement at the school, industry, and government levels.


This role demands team management, strong communication, stakeholder management, and data management skills, along with a deep commitment to improving livelihood opportunities for young people.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Career Guidance & Student Engagement


  • Design and facilitate career awareness and guidance sessions for students, ensuring information is accessible and actionable.


  • Curate and maintain repositories of emerging opportunities (programs, jobs, apprenticeships, coaching, etc.).


  • Lead employability and socio-emotional skill-building workshops, peer-support initiatives, and mentoring programs with Vocational Trainers.


2. Employer & Partnership Engagement


  • Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with employers, experts, and industry partners for internships, placements, exposure sessions, and workshops.


  • Explore new partnerships with high-impact organizations and alumni networks.


  • Coordinate with external professionals to arrange exposure activities and facilitate placement drives.


3. Placement Drives & Job Fairs


  • Organize, mobilize, and facilitate student participation in job fairs, placement events, and industrial exposure visits.


  • Support interview preparation and skill development for diverse career pathways.


  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for seamless event execution, including post-placement tracking and feedback.


4. Governance & Stakeholder Coordination


  • Foster and maintain robust working relationships with resource persons (RPs), heads of schools (HoS), vocational trainers (VTs), government officials, and industry representatives.


  • Act as a liaison between LAHI, government agencies, and schools, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.


  • Set up communication forums (e.g., WhatsApp groups, regular alignment meetings) and support the rollout of LAHI’s offerings.


5. Operations & Planning


  • Break down organizational annual activity plans into actionable tasks and timelines for effective implementation.


  • Document program progress through high-quality reports, case studies, and presentations.


  • Ensure timely and regular data collection, analysis, and reporting at the block, district, and state levels.


  • Address emerging challenges, propose solutions, and contribute to continuous process improvements.


6. Team Management & Leadership


  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3-4 officers or associates, setting clear expectations and providing hands-on coaching and capacity-building.


  • Allocate tasks, monitor team performance, and foster a collaborative team culture focused on results and professional development.


  • Support the onboarding and integration of new team members, encourage initiative, and ensure team well-being under field and high-pressure conditions.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:


  • Any Post Graduate/Graduate from a recognized university in India.


  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in student development programs, with at least 2 years in education, skill development, counseling, governance, employment, livelihood, or industry sector.


  • Strategic thinking, strong communication, and stakeholder management skills.


  • Advanced proficiency in business tools: Microsoft Office and Google Suite.


  • Strong data management and digital reporting skills. Proficiency in core business tools, i.e, Excel, PPT, G-sheet, etc.


  • Excellent presentation and documentation abilities.


  • Superior written and verbal communication in Hindi and English.Collaboration, professional integrity, empathy, problem-solving, resilience, initiative, and a sense of humor.


  • Enterprising, solution-oriented attitude; comfort with ambiguity and field-based work.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience:


  • Post Graduate Certification/Diploma in any stream under the social/ rural/ skill development/ education sector


  • Experience working on government projects or as part of a fellowship/entrepreneurial venture.


  • Prior experience managing teams preferred


  • Regular work with adolescent students (ages 14–19), fresh graduates, and a range of stakeholders.
