Job Purpose:

The position is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability, reliability, and optimal performance of the core transmission and microwave networks through effective operations, maintenance, and project execution. The role includes leading network deployment and expansion initiatives, managing vendor performance, maintaining comprehensive network documentation, and ensuring the timely identification and resolution of faults. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless 24/7 network operations while maintaining compliance with defined SLAs, quality standards, and organizational objectives.
Job Responsibilities:

Ensure 24/7 availability and optimal performance of the Core Transmission Network, covering OTN, SDH, DWDM and PTN technologies. Proactively identify and resolve both remote and on-site network or equipment failures and degraded link performance.

Oversee and audit Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities for long-haul and metro optical fiber networks to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.

Responsible for the overall performance management of the microwave transmission network, including monitoring, optimization, and timely resolution of issues to ensure high availability and reliability.

Maintain comprehensive network documentation to support quick fault localization and resolution. Supervise regional teams, provide technical guidance, and ensure continuous 24/7 operational support.

Perform fiber loss calculations, generate analytical reports, and coordinate with vendors for loss rectification. Manage fiber break restoration activities to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Maintain and monitor spare part inventories, ensure calibration of tools and test equipment, and manage asset records to sustain maximum network availability.

Assign and manage tasks for Managed Services (MS) and fiber vendors related to both corrective and preventive maintenance. Ensure timely hardware replacements and fiber break restorations in compliance with SLAs.

Execute and manage end-to-end projects for Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) deployment including Long Haul (LH), Metro, FTTS, and FTTH along with the integration of active and passive network elements across the North Region.

Coordinate and implement new network entities, ensuring comprehensive Provisional and Final Acceptance Testing (PAT/PAC) in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders. Ensure that fiber deployment strictly complies with Quality of Service (QoS) assurance and established testing standards.

Liaise with subcontractors and vendors, evaluate their operational performance, and ensure service quality within the designated region.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders on legal, security, and operational issues, escalating cases to the Head Office where necessary.
Eligibility Criteria (Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills):
Education:
-
Must have Bachelor’s degree preferably in Telecommunication, Electrical or Electronics from an HEC-recognized institution.
Work Experience:
-
Up to 8 years of experience. Experience in managing the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and deployment of fiber optic and microwave networks shall be preferred.
Skills

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of optical signal transmission, attenuation, dispersion, and other core fiber optic fundamentals essential for network reliability and performance.

Experienced in managing vendors and service providers to maintain stable network KPIs, ensuring adherence to contractual SLAs and operational performance benchmarks.

Effectively collaborates with peer engineers, field technicians, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless 24/7 network operations and rapid issue resolution.

Capable of preparing and maintaining detailed documentation of fiber optic network designs, maintenance activities, and performance reports to support continuous improvement and audit compliance.
