Job Purpose:

Responsible for managing the Optical Transmission Planning function with overall accountability for the design and optimization of the Optical Network, including DWDM, SDH, PTN, and Metro/Long-haul Fiber systems. This role encompasses budgeting, preparing RFPs/RFQs, conducting technical analysis of submitted proposals, and overseeing network engineering, configuration, and capacity management. Additionally, it involves defining and maintaining the network strategy and driving the evolution of the transmission infrastructure to meet current and future demands.
Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for the overall network design and to develop implementation plans as per the network strategy

Plan budget for network extensions/expansions to ensure capital is planned ahead of time

Working with BSS.RAN. GCSS. Operations and Network Construction teams for developing capacities and expansion in optical network (IP/WDM)

Budget forecasting, Preparation of RFP's, BOQ's, technical comparisons, technical analysis, Expansions, project scope sheet, management approval, Contract Signing, Annex finalization, for each and every Optical Network Project

RFP/SOC preparation as per the industry standards, HLD/LLD formulation for Optical Core projects and other relevant design documents. Translate the internal departments (NSS/BSS/VAS/RAN/ IT) requirements into technical design and ensure timely planning/ordering of the same

Fiber designing in the best possible way to ensure SLA of Transport Network

Design and formulate strategies based on technical grounds, to identify the scope of common Fiber reach areas in coordination with other OMOs to reduce Capex

Analysis of Fiber loss reports and as well as BW availability reports ensuring risk-free network in terms of performance and capacity

Identify, Design and plan for FTTx/Metro/Long-haul according to traffic growth analysis to ensure smooth network operations

Vendor alignment and tracking of ordering/capex, and aligning of long-term evolution and strategies internally and externally

Capacity assurance to all the Core NE's of Long Haul PTN, SDH/DWDM network. DPLC & IPLC circuits planning for corporate clients

Ensure the Mobile backhaul/Corporate Network design & plan according to defined standard

Responsible to define network evolution [3-5 Year network evolution view) to ensure industry demands are met while aligning with overall Network Strategy

Feasibility analysis of Corporate requirement, prepare and plan budgets and seek budget approvals

Inter department communication for PR/PO/Capex and reporting
Eligibility Criteria (Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills):
Education:
-
Preferably bachelor's degree in electrical/Telecommunication/IT/Computer engineering.
Work Experience:
-
Should have preferably 6 Years & above of relevant telecommunication experience in Transmission Planning.

Preferably 6-8 years of working experience in Optical Transmission with at least 1-4 years of experience in planning/Designing of Long Haul, Metro and Access optical fiber OSP and Active network.
Skills – Generic:

Proficient in Office Applications like Project, Word, Excel and Power Point
Skills – Job Specific:

Should have extensive knowledge of SDH/DWDM/PTN/IPRAN protocols & design scenarios

Should possess sound knowledge about industry standards related to transport/packet networks

Familiarity with ZTE/Huawei transport network

Should possess extensive 3G/LTE network transport protocols & entities knowledge
-
Familiar with IP/MPLS Networks

Should possess operational knowledge of access TXN network
-
Should know Fiber designing both for Core & Access Rings

Identify risks in the transmission domain and implement proactive mitigation strategies
