Assistant Occupational Health Manager

Location: Mt. Sterling, IL

Department: Occupational Health & Safety

Reports To: Occupational Health Manager

Salary Range: $63,046 - $94,569 annually, plus bonus opportunity

As an Assistant Occupational Health Manager, you will oversee the day‑to‑day administration of the workers’ compensation program while ensuring alignment with organizational, financial, and employee‑care objectives. This role partners closely with internal departments, insurance providers, and legal resources to support effective claim outcomes, regulatory compliance, and cost‑conscious program management.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop strategies to ensure injured employees obtain appropriate medical treatment, return to work, and claims resolution
  • Create exceptional relationships with employees, interdepartmental team, managers, and 3rd party vendors
  • Manage claims across the full claim lifecycle, including injured worker intake, claim filing, communication with insurance carriers, coordination with medical providers and physical therapy, return‑to‑work planning, and claim closure
  • Lead and/or participate in a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and other related groups to communicate information regarding status of all claims, areas of opportunity, and other pertinent information as appropriate
  • Track and manage all workers’ compensation metrics
  • Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health care management, risk management or professional certifications similar in nature
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Experience in working independently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding of the organization’s culture

YOU MAY ALSO HAVE

  • Previous related work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

ROLE SPECIFICS

  • Travel – Occasional overnight travel for department or company meetings and continuing education. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train
