Assistant Press Operator – Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 (5 Color CPC)

Reports To: Senior Press Operator / Press Supervisor

‎Objective:

‎To assist the lead press operator in setting up, operating, and maintaining the Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 – 5 color offset press, ensuring smooth production, high print quality, and minimal downtime.

‎Key Responsibilities

‎

‎Assist the main press operator during setup, operation, and shutdown of the Speedmaster 102 – 5 color printing machine.

‎

‎Help in makeready tasks: plate mounting, cleaning blankets and rollers, setting ink and water levels, and preparing substrates.

‎

‎Support in color adjustments and monitoring press performance using CPC / CP2000 / CPTronic control consoles.

‎

‎Load and unload paper stock into the feeder and delivery units safely and efficiently.

‎

‎Continuously check printed sheets for color consistency, registration, and print defects.

‎

‎Assist in maintaining optimal press speed and minimizing paper waste.

‎

‎Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the press area, including rollers, inking units, and dampening systems.

‎

‎Monitor ink, coating, and chemical levels and report shortages to the supervisor.

‎

‎Ensure all safety and housekeeping procedures are followed around the machine.

‎

‎Communicate with the main operator and team to ensure smooth job transitions and press performance.

‎

‎Record production data and assist in preparing reports on printed quantity, waste, and downtime.

‎

‎Skills & Experience Requirements

‎

‎Minimum 1–2 years of experience assisting on Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 (5 color) or similar offset printing machines.

‎

‎Basic knowledge of offset printing processes and CPC/CP2000 systems.

‎

‎Familiarity with ink mixing, dampening systems, and paper handling.

‎

‎Good mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor issues.

‎

‎Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

‎

‎Ability to work in rotational shifts and under tight production schedules.
