Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology and the Department of Pediatrics at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and the Heart Center of Manning Family Children’s is seeking a Cardiologist with expertise in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) to join its growing ACHD program. The applicant should have specific expertise in adult congenital heart disease and be board certified/eligible in ACHD. The ACHD program recently obtained accreditation and is the only accredited program in the state of Louisiana. The candidate would be expected to grow this expanding program by performing clinical ACHD duties in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. Manning Family Children’s is the founding member of a 6-hospital health system titled LCMC (Louisiana Children’s Medical Center). Extensive relationships exist between Manning Family Children’s and all other partner hospitals in the LCMC group, especially Touro Infirmary, University Medical Center and East Jefferson General Hospital. Additional opportunities exist in pulmonary hypertension, exercise physiology, our Fontan clinic, coronary artery disease/anomalies, imaging and other Heart Center programs depending on the candidate’s expertise and interest. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. A joint appointment between Pediatric and Adult Cardiology is also possible.

Other Information About the Position

The Heart Center Faculty includes a team of 19 physicians, two cardiac surgeons, and 4 cardiac anesthesiologists. Subspeciality care in the Heart Center includes non-invasive imaging, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, expertise in Fontan management, home-monitoring, neurodevelopment, pulmonary hypertension, pediatric coronary artery disease, and heart failure. Currently, more than 200 heart catheterizations (75% interventional), close to 250 cardiothoracic surgeries, and 11,000 ambulatory visits are performed each year at Manning Family Children’s.

Manning Family Children’s Hospital is the only freestanding children’s hospital in Louisiana and serves as the primary pediatric teaching site for LSUHSC Pediatrics. Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: MD or equivalent

Other Education if applicable: Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology or Adult Cardiology

Certifications or Licenses Required: BC/BE (or equivalent) in Adult Congenital Heart Disease; Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana before start date.
