Assistant Professor of Graduate Nursing

This is a College of Graduate Nursing Faculty-level position within Western University of Health Science and is offered in conjunction with an administrative appointment. Together, the faculty role of Assistant Professor of Graduate Nursing (PCN F03301) and the administrative role (PCN A03955) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE).

The salary range listed in this posting represents the total compensation for the combined Administrative and Faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding job posting under our Faculty jobs section for details on the additional assignment.

Serve as a member of the faculty for the College of Graduate Nursing, and teach in the CGN programs, participate in college and university committees, conduct scholarly research, and perform other such duties as directed by the Site Dean or Dean of the College.

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Expertise and knowledge of nursing and advanced practice of nursing.
  • Ability to design, implement and evaluate courses, lectures and seminars and evaluate student achievement.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced clinical skills required of nurses in multiple settings.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of clinical and didactic performance of students.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of health professionals that contribute to the clinical/didactic education of nursing students.
  • Work effectively with colleagues, staff and administration to advance the mission of the institution.
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy and skills in emerging teaching technologies. Willingness to remain flexible and adapt to the changing technological advancements associated with a web-based curriculum.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications
Education:
  • Must possess a Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.


Experience:
  • A minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience in Nursing. State board of nursing approved for teaching in a required subject area.

Licensure:
  • Must possess a current RN license.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
  • A doctorate in Nursing or related field.


Experience:
  • Two years teaching in nursing education.
Essential Job Duties

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach in the CGN programs with a teaching load appropriate to the balance of their other job functions. Teaching assignments vary each semester.

  • Participate as a faculty advisor to master’s students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in recruitment, scholarship development, and facilitation of student clinical experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Participate in institutional and college activities which may include:
  • Curriculum development and/or evaluation.
  • Dean’s Cabinet Meetings, CGN committees and university committee work.
  • College information sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in College and University including Orientation, Commencement, Convocation, and other special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of the college or Site Dean.

Work Schedule
  • This position is located in Lebanon, Oregon and requires a minimum of 3 days per week on campus.
  • Hours generally Mon-Fri 8 AM to 5 PM with flexibility to support program activities that take place outside of working hours.
