Position Description
Texas State University’s Department of Organization, Workforce, and Leadership Studies (OWLS) seeks an exemplary and visionary candidate to join us in preparing reflective leaders for today’s global workforce. An ideal candidate will provide evidence of experience and potential in the areas of teaching, and service as follows.

Teaching:

Teach undergraduate aviation courses, in online, in-person, or hybrid delivery system including some required in-person office hours; supervise students’ participation in partner flight courses, and completion of FAA requirements; teach essential theoretical knowledge for aviation, covering aerodynamics, aviation safety, aviation weather, and other ground-based instruction; participate in undergraduate curriculum development related to aviation; participate in admissions board decisions for aviation; serve on aviation scholarship committees; assist with B.A.A.S. degree coordinator activities for Aviation Science majors.

Service:

Service may include engaging in activities at the department, college, and university level that build relationships with other university departments, local businesses, and community organizations as well as participating in professional organizations.

All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications
  • An earned bachelor’s degree.
  • Private pilot license (PPL) or Commercial pilot license (CPL).
  • Minimum of a Certified ground instructor (CGI) or Certified flight instructor (CFI) license, or military equivalent.
  • Instrument rating or Certified flight instructor with Instrument rating (CFII), or military equivalent.
  • At least two years of flight experience or 100 hours of private flight time.
  • Experience teaching online, asynchronous, or synchronous courses.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (master’s or Ph.D.) in Education, Aviation Science, Aviation, or similar field.
  • Experience creating online, asynchronous, or synchronous courses.
