Position Description
Texas State University’s Department of Organization, Workforce, and Leadership Studies (OWLS) seeks an exemplary and visionary candidate to join us in preparing reflective leaders for today’s global workforce. An ideal candidate will provide evidence of experience and potential in the areas of teaching, and service as follows.
Teaching:
Teach nontraditional and traditional students both undergraduate and graduate courses in data analytics, interdisciplinary studies, including but not limited to organization, workforce, and leadership studies, as well as teaching and training methods. Teach courses online, on campus (San Marcos), and off campus; advise students as needed; participate in curriculum development including online courses; participate in undergraduate prior learning assessment (PLA); serve on graduate exit committees. Required weekly office hours, and presence at the San Marcos campus on a regular basis for departmental meetings, events, recruitment and outreach activities.
Service:
Assist BAAS Coordinator with advising and mentoring students. Service may include engaging in activities at the department, college, and university level that build relationships with other university departments, local businesses, and community organizations as well as participating in professional organizations.
Research:
Research is optional for instructional faculty but research that supports teaching and learning in data analytics is feasible.
Positions are subject to availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
- Earned master’s degree or graduate level specialization in data analytics, data science, information systems, computer science or similar field.
- Experience teaching online, asynchronous, or synchronous courses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in data analytics, data science, information systems, information science, computer science, or similar field
- Experience creating online, asynchronous, or synchronous courses
- Experience teaching and/or service in data analytics or a related discipline.
- Experience advising and/or mentoring students.
