The LSU Cancer Center is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. – level scientist to serve as the Director of the Digital Histopathology Core (DHC). The DHC will primarily support Biorepository Core(s) activities and collaborate closely with clinical and translational investigators to develop, optimize, and implement high-quality, cutting-edge histopathological platforms in support of research studies and clinical trials. The successful Core Director candidate will bring deep expertise in histopathology, oncologic pathology, and cancer medical biology. The Director will have familiarity with the use, application, and operational maintenance of imaging tools including tissue processing, image analysis and storage, and data interpretation. The candidate will be conversant in assay development, and possess a proven track record of scientific achievement, innovation, and service. Experience with advanced statistical analysis and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools applied to pathology is welcome.
The DHC Director will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing a fee structure for all services, performing sample handling, analytic procedures related to histopathological analyses, and routine validation of assays, developing new protocols, validating standard operational procedures, coordinating tasks and planning, and communicating with existing and potential new users. The Director is also expected to administer all project and space management, budgeting and cost control, hiring and supervising staff, training and development, conduct performance evaluations, maintain infrastructure and equipment, and develop new techniques.
