Job Summary

The School of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences seeks applicants for a 12-month tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2026. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate's area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the school, college, and university levels.


The College of Nursing and Health Sciences provides programs of study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Bachelor of Science degree is granted in Health Sciences and Nursing. The graduate degrees include the Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MSN) and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). A minor in Nutrition is also provided. The Nursing program is accredited by the CCNE. Faculty members are actively involved in research, service, scholarship, and professional development. Responsibilities

Department Summary

Teaching up to 12 credit/contact hours at the graduate level per semester, participating in service at the school, college, and university levels, and maintaining scholarly productivity.

Teaching and scholarship - 80%
Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's academic discipline.

Service - 20%
Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • License and certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a population focus relevant to program needs
  • Must be able to obtain or hold an unencumbered Georgia RN and APRN license
  • Relocation to South Georgia/Valdosta area
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant's career stage in a variety of modalities (face to face, hybrid, online)
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
  • A record of mentoring students
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in graduate nursing programs, preferably in a DNP program
  • Experience mentoring and advising DNP scholarly projects or practice-focused capstone projects
  • Knowledge of and experience with AACN Essentials (2021) and integration into curriculum design and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in practice scholarship, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice initiatives
  • S trong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and clinical partners
